Jacques Louis, französischer Historiker, * Toulon 1. 1. 1924; wurde nach langjähriger Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeit an französischen und ausländischen Institutionen 1972 Präsident der sechsten (der sozialwissenschaftlichen) Sektion der »École Pratique des Hautes Études« (Paris) und 1975 der aus ihr hervorgegangenen unabhängigen sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschungshochschule »École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales«. Le G., zum Kreis der Historiker um die Zeitschrift Annales gehörend, widmet sich v. a. der wirtschafts-, sozial- und kulturgeschichtlichen Erforschung des Mittelalters. Herausgeber der Reihe »Europa bauen«.
